World Thalassemia Day.

Within the framework of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Zintan’s commitment to strengthening its community and healthcare role, and on the occasion of World Thalassemia Day, the Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, in cooperation with the Community Service and Environment Team, organized a free medical screening day on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

This activity was organized in response to the program accreditation requirements for the Medicine and Surgery Program, and as part of the faculty’s commitment to providing healthcare support and medical follow-up for children with thalassemia.

The medical day targeted children between the ages of 2 and 16 years old, and the services provided included:

  • Follow-up of thalassemia cases.
  • Monitoring the growth and development of affected children.
  • Diagnosis and follow-up of complications resulting from the disease.

The Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine affirms its continued efforts to support health and awareness programs and to serve the local community, contributing to the improvement of healthcare services and enhancing awareness of genetic diseases, as well as methods of prevention and management.
